Architecture and Design

  • The area's heritage is characterised primarily by former industrial buildings of Victorian vintage, such as the Horatio Myer building
  • The proposals represent a contemporary response to the traditional warehouse style aesthetic of the area
  • The new Mews is envisaged to recreate the traditional feel of wharf-style streets, with a mixture of commercial and residential uses within a close urban neighbourhood
  • Materials will reflect those found in the locality, with brickwork to main street frontages, while the central student building will be clad in brick, render and cladding panels; creating a lighter, contemporary aesthetic
  • The buildings will create a modern, vibrant, mixed use development, repairing the broken street scene and creating an attractive new addition at the centre of the community
